This just happened last week. my ROKU wss always streaming NETFLIX movies to our SONY Trinitron

Your Roku XD was released in Sep 2010, and is a legacy player. That means it's no longer supported by Roku, and channel developers are also dropping support. Unfortunately, that means there's no way to get Netflix working on it again. Your only option is to replace your Roku. And honestly, a new Roku is a vast improvement over that old of a player.
