question, does the legacy Roku product, Premiere 4630X support an SD CARD, and if so, what is/are the
rated capacity for maximum SD card size?
So...after a delay, received a 32 gbyte PNY basic micro sd card, unplugged the box , installed the new
sd card and plugged the box back in to power up and reboot...no good! Box locked with no response from remote control... Hmmm!
Read elsewhere in support threads to do a so-called "slow" format with FAT 32 support of the new card...
still no good. Read elsewhere to NOT UNPLUG/DON'T CUT THE POWER to the box when inserting the new sd card...did that, success!! So the takeaway is to avoid a mega sd card, use a 16 gb, perhaps 32 gb max AND remember to install it with the box powered up (very counterintuitive from what we know about electronic hardware, we are almost always advised to turn OFF the power for such a thing as an sd card install). Hope this field report helps...thumbs down to ROKU for NO MENTION of these install requirements anywhere in owners manual.
A 4630 is a 5th generation unit from 2016 with SD support. It should have at least SDHC support if not SDXC. Should readily support up to 32GB. Likely also 64/128, but at least 32.

I do not see any place on the unit or the remote that allows me to plug in a Micro SD card.
Where do you plug the card in?"
The Premiere model 4630 is actually a Premiere+ model. It does have a microSD card slot on the back.
My question to you is: Is your Premiere+ a model 4630? Does it look like a Roku 4/Ultra model? If it looks like an Express, it's not a 4630, and won't have the microSD slot.

The SD card on Roku models that have a card slot, only are used for channel storage, historically up to 2 GB. Any capacity beyond this was not used for anything.
I don't recall this having been changed in later implementations. On Roku's player accessories page they are still only selling a 2 GB card.
