Virtual Surround Sound on Smart Sound Bar & Streambar with OS 10

Jump to solution

According to the description (below) on the OS 10 upgrade there is supposed to be a "Virtual Surround Sound setting".  I cannot find this setting, My system upgraded to 10.0 yesterday.  I have both a Smart soundbar (on my Sony Bravia) and a Streambar (on older Samsung).

How do I access the "virtual surround sound setting" ?  I do not see it in the sound settings on the Roku settings on either TV.

the settings are the same as in OS 9.4.

Virtual Surround Sound – If you have a Roku Smart Soundbar or Roku Streambar Pro, you’ll be able to enjoy a rich and immersive sound experience with the new Virtual Surround setting. This setting creates spacious sound that moves around the room for an enhanced audio experience. Access this new setting by pressing the * button on the Roku remote to access the sound settings menu, or find it in the audio menu within settings on your device.

Thanks for any help.

@sooznd

Thanks for the follow up.

Please be aware that the virtual surround sound will not work if you have surround sound device attached the Roku soundbar as you will actually have surround sound and will have no need for virtual surround sound.

Thanks,
Danny

Thanks - makes total sense! No need for virtual when  it is real. LOL

Thanks for the post. We would be happy to look further into this for you. Please be aware the the Virtual Surround Sound will only be available on the Roku Streambar Pro.

Can you please provide us with more information regarding your devices:
-Roku device model
-serial number
-device ID
-software OS/version
(these can all be found in Settings > System > About)
-steps to reproduce the issue you are seeing
-are you connecting anything else to your soundbars (Roku TV wireless speakers)

Once I have this information, I'll be able to pass it along to the appropriate Roku team to investigate further.

Thanks,
Danny

I have the Roku smart soundbar
s/n = R65OA27588599
ID = TC2-R1031.
IT is updated to OS 10.0.

I also have the Roku subwoofer & wireless speakers paired to the soundbar
