I purchased a new Roku Streaming stick. As I was setting it up, I couldn't get past the software update. It was unable to stay connected long enough to update the software. Working with tech support didn't help and I was ready to give up. And I had a thought. My TV is perhaps a five year old Smart TV, and I have a USB device inserted that allows the Smart TV functions to work. Since I was going to use the Roku stick for these functions going forward, I didn't need that device. I wondered if that was causing the problem. I removed it, and the software update flew right through. So yes, the presence of that wireless stick in the TV blocked the ability of the Roku stick to update the software, and would presumably have had an adverse effect on streaming.
I never saw this mentioned in the forums, so I thought I'd share.
