Streaming Stick won't recognize remote app

Ok, this is a weird one. I have two Rokus, a Roku 1 and a Streaming Stick. Both remotes disappeared some time ago, so we've been using the app on an iPhone or one of two Fire tablets (no idea if that's relevant). It still works fine with the Roku 1, but the Streaming Stick won't respond at all. The app will say it's connected to the correct Roku, they're on the same network, but no response no matter what device we try. I'm completely baffled, and I can't update without a remote! Any threads I've found pertaining to remote trouble seem to be the remote not finding the Roku, but that doesn't seem to be the issue here-- the Roku just doesn't respond. Thanks in advance...

Same network, but is one maybe connected to 5ghz and the other not?

I'd try rebooting everything, starting with your router, and then the Rokus..
Yeah, I got some Rokus.

Make sure Wireless Isolation is not enabled. Sometimes firmware updates will reactivate or activate things you don't expect.

How would I check this without a remote? Not being a smartass, genuine question.

OK, rebooted everything (refreshed the modem, everything), and still having the same problem. The stick comes up in the list of devices, says the app is connected to the Roku from the phone or tablet end, but no response from the Roku.

Re: Streaming Stick won't recognize remote app

Ok, this is getting very frustrating. Turns out the router and modem were so old they needed replacing, so Xfinity changed them out for a new single unit. I now can't detect either Roku though the phone app. I've tried watching various Youtube videos to no avail, work-arounds involving renaming your network, etc. I currently live in my boyfriend's parents' house (i.e. someone else's household). Am I screwed/ do I need new Rokus?

You will need new remotes at this point, unless you configure the Wi-Fi to be identical to the old, including the password. https://www.roku.com/accessories
