Re: Roku overheating

The extender is only for sticks and would do absolutely nothing for your model.  There isn't much you can do short of aiming a fan at it or sticking it in a bucket of ice (not recommended).  If it's still under warranty try to get it replaced.

The free extender offer is only for Roku Streaming Stick products.  Your SN identifies your Roku as a Premiere+.

Re: Roku overheating

I’m disappointed that the free extender is not offered for the Roku premiere. We’ve had this Roku is a little over a year. It’s in a room where it is seldom used and the TV is not in a cabinet.

Re: Roku overheating

The extender is only about 4 inches long. On Sticks that plug directly into the TV, a 4" separation can make a difference.  On other Rokus that connect through an HDMI cable such that they are already separated from the TV by some distance, another 4" isn't likely to make any difference.  You can always just switch to a longer HDMI cable and move your Roku further from the set if you think it will help.

Re: Roku overheating

Misleading, possibly deceptive information is provided.

Replies on the web mention the free HDMI extender, without any reference to model name.  When I enter either one of two serial numbers (meticulously examined for any possible typing error), I get the message that the serial number is erroneous, not that the free extender is not available for my model.

The serial numbers I entered were correct.  I must conclude that, public-facing information notwithstanding, Roku does not provide a free HDMI extender.  It leads me to distrust any other pronouncements from Roku.

Re: Roku overheating

@agor11, it's only available for and more importantly useful for a stick.  If you don't have a stick you won't be able to request one.  If you do and can't request one make sure you're using the serial number and not device ID.  Why they need two unique numbers is beyond me.  Get the serial number from Settings->System->About.  Also, people not in the US may not be eligible (I don't know about that one).
