Loud Noise

My roku is making really loud noises. I have the Roku 4. I wasn't watching it at the current time. I have unplugged it for a while and then plugged it back up and it still made that loud noise. I am aware of the little subtle fan noise that it makes from time to time. That sound is kind of like it is winding down. However, this one was louder, like the fan was hitting something or something of the sort.

Re: Loud Noise

I am experiencing the very same issue. It is incredibly loud and sounds broken. Any suggestions?

Re: Loud Noise from Roku 4 even when not playing

I have the same issue, like a whirring sound, modulating even when the ROku is not being used.  When unplugged, the sound goes away.  When starting up it stays calm for a while, but starts making noise in about 10 minutes.

@thasildar, so you have a Roku 4?  What's the model number from Settings->System->About?

Model 4400X - Roku 4

Serial Number: YY00FT226628

I have recorded the noise, but didn't see a way to upload the noise file.

Re: Loud Noise from Roku 4 even when not playing

Probably the known issue with Roku 4 fans:

https://www.cordcuttersnews.com/roku-has-released-a-statement-on-the-roku-4-fan-noise-issue/

(Dont call the number in that article)

Don't know if they are still honoring any "exchange" in the year 2021, but you could still call or contact them and find out:     (816) 272-8106    perhaps @RokuDanny-R has more insight

Otherwise, a brave/technically inclined soul might try and open his Roku 4 and fix it themselves (fan replacement).
