Re: How do you stop roku inactivity timeout?

Can Roku have any TSR channels that could monitor for "Are you still watching"  and respond for you? I remember back in the old DOS days there were such programs.

Not possible.  Only one channel (and possibly a screesaver) can be active at one time.  There's nothing like a TSR.  (Ah... fond memories.)

If you have some computer that's on 24/7 (like a NAS or a router running OpenWRT or something similar), you could have a cron job that sends a key press via the network periodically.

NBC News still times it. CBS NEWS does not.

I use this piece of garbage for a retail environment and it feels like it is always returning to the homescreen.. at least three or four times a day.   It's in the background during my video conferences with my business logo and it often shifts to showing Pokemon or some other **bleep** movie advertisment.  It didn't always time out.. I've got the bandwidth saver turned off, the sleep timer turned off.. and have spent way to much f'ing time trying to figure out what the .... is going on.. I'm beyond frustrated.  I am going to pitch this POS into the garbage and never buy anything from ROKU again...

Ya....Same here, Very Annoying.
Sling does it like every 2 hours on my computer and roughly every 4 hours on the tv.

My wife needs this to slepp as well.
We canceled/quit our cable tv subscription for this?
We have a gathering and the kids are in the living room watching Sling and it pops up "Are You Still Wathing"

LIke did let your extended auto warrenty expire!

Then whoever is in the livingroom with the kids that get nominated to turn the tv program back on doesn't know how to navigate back, And miss the end of their program again...

Sorry to say, We will migrate to another service over this, If this continues.
We just noticed that the Cable Tv networks now have streaming services starting at $25 without that Inconvienece.

Note; Be sure to mention this in your reviews folks...

Thank You

Hi everyone,

Thanks for the posts.

The inactivity timeout that you are experiencing is most likely the Bandwidth Saver Feature on your Roku device. You can toggle this by going to Settings > Network > Bandwidth saver > Off.

For more information about the Bandwidth Saver Feature, visit our Support page here: How do I use Bandwidth Saver to avoid going over my internet data cap?

Thanks,
Danny

I think the whole problem is that turning off the bandwidth saver has no effect, as described way back at the beginning of this message thread

This is not the right answer to our problem. People let you know that they have already did that process and it still keeps happening. Mine doesn't doesn't ask if your still watching if your watching Pluto, it just stops playing and the screen saver is displayed. Not a bandwidth problem cause I already turned it off. Is there anything else that can be done? Can I get a different 1? Mine also didn't use to do this. Also the volume starts gurgling. Can't take it back to store. Had it to long and no longer have reciept. Long as in since April. Maybe y'all could test them first.
