My Roku Express works fine on other TV's but I can't get it to work on my older HP Plasma TV - model PL5060N. It starts up an then I just get a blank screen on the TV. It's plugged into the only HDMI port. Anyone else have Roku working on a similar HP Plasma TV?
I'd suggest hooking the Roku up to the tv on which it works. Via Settings > Display type, set the Roku to the projector's 720p display resolution, not the "Auto detect" setting. When you get the screen with the countdown timer click the "Yes the screen looks good" button. Now return the Roku to the projector and see if it works.
Yep, I just looked up the specs for that display. It's not a 1080p display. The accepted input signals are 1080i, 480i, 480p, and 720p. Over HDMI it likely only accepts 720p and 1080i. The native screen resolution is 1366 x 768, so 720p would likely provide the best image. Many older TVs don't report their correct supported resolutions via the EDID signal, so the Roku is attempting to send a 1080p signal, which the TV can't accept. Follow the suggestion by @makaiguy to manually set the resolution to 720p. If someone could offer the correct button press sequence you could probably do it without moving to a different TV, but I only have a Roku TV sitting next to me at the moment so I can't count the button presses with it.
