Does anyone know the audio resolution the new 2020 Roku Ultra will pass through for PCM FLAC? The only specs on their website are for Dolby.
Thanks
I have the Roku Ultra 2020 going to HDMI on the Denon. Here is a photo showing audio information of that input while playing a 24 bit 96 kHz 2-channel flac file. (downloaded file and verified with MediaInfo)
Ultra 2020 playing 96/24 flac
The Roku Ultra 2020 played my 24-bit 96Hz and 192Hz stereo music files. It also played my only 24-bit 96Hz 5.1 (6 channels) music file, but output was transcoded in stereo only.
This was played with the Roku connected first to Android TV, then from TV to Denon AVR via HDMI ARC, and it was the same when I then connected the Roku first directly to the Denon. The 5.1 flac still showed up as Stereo on the Denon. I used the Roku Media Player with USB drive connected and also streaming (DLNA) same file from my NAS.
Thank you for the reply.
Did your Denon AVR show the stereo files played at their native resolution or were they down sampled?
When set to HDMI audio passthrough on Roku, it stays at same resolution.
On my last gen ultra, it reclocks to 48kHz no matter what you do.

What the actual... I have no words... mine reclocks every time, but only does this with the Roku.
Based on NTC's verified experience it appears the new 2020 Ultra has been programmed to pass through high resolution PCM. I have a tube dsd dac with no display, so I had no way to personally verify pass through.
Thank you for the picture NTC.
Not sure how this was accomplished. Best I can get is 48 khz thru denon avr. Odd they claim flac support but, I suppose they support and can't play back. I use amazon hd. Heos app is horrible and I hoped to bypass it for flac.
