Does Roku Ultra 4660x2 support Dolby Atmos?
@GTEdwards Thanks for the note!
Dolby Atmos passthrough is supported on the Roku Ultra, for all channels that offer this audio format in their content. Some popular channels that offer Dolby Atmos for some content titles include Disney Plus, Vudu, and Netflix.
This functionality requires you to have a receiver/soundbar capable of decoding and playing Dolby Atmos.
Thanks,
Tanner
The 4660x2 does not support Dolby Atmos. I upgraded to the 4670x and it supports Dolby Atmos (selected channels) and sounds great.
My Roku is connected via HDMI to an Atmos soundbar (JBL 9.1) which is connected to my LG TV via HDMI (ARC port)

Does your answer also include Roku Premier+ 4630X ?

Only Vudu and Amazon Prime can stream Atmos via Roku. Not Plex, Netflix, or anything else.
Disney+ supports Atmos
This is presumably because ROKU has not paid the extra tenth of cent to get these streams.
Apple TV app does as well. More Dolby Atmos to choose from than Amazon.
hi ChrisPepin,
Saw your post while i was looking for answers and had a question about your LG TV. How do you have the audio setup on it? Does your TV have Dolby capabilities or did you choose passthrough? the same as the Roku sound setting? thanks
This all needs clarification. Roku players only support the version of Dolby Atmos that is used by online streaming providers. This is a Dolby Digital+ lossy stream with Atmos metadata included. This is NOT the Atmos that is included on Blu Ray discs. That version is the Dolby TrueHD lossless codec, which Roku does NOT support via bitstreaming.
If your TV can pass DD+ though either the optical out or via ARC, then DD+/Atmos should make it to your AVR. However, not all TVs will pass DD+ via optical. If you desire Atmos audio, the most practical way is connecting the Roku directly to an AVR via HDMI and let the AVR handle the audio and just send the video to the TV.
