On my Roku Ultra (4640 and 4660), under the old HDR Secret Menu (5X Home, Down, Left, 3X Up), there has been another option for some time; guessing after 8.x:

"Disable Automatic Recovery" toggles to "Enable Automatic Recovery". See screenshot:

Does anyone know what this does?

And is the option displayed the currently active one or will it be active once you click it?

I experimented a little, and it looks like the setting may revert some things on reboot (or not revert them), depending on which setting is used.

For instance, I manually set my display to 4K60P (No HDR), because HDR is just causing more headaches then it's worth with my Samsung TV.

If I have selected Disable Automatic Recovery, it keeps those settings on reboot, best I can tell.

If I have selected Enable Automatic Recovery, it discards those settings on reboot, and goes back to Auto, which will select 4K60P HDR.

it enables/disables display setting revert such as when the display settings return to auto-detect.
