Connecting a Roku player to a device without speakers

I would like to connect a Roku device to a screen that does not have any sound capabilities. Can I plug speakers or connect Bluetooth speakers directly to a Roku streaming device (like Roku Ultra)? Does the remote headphone jack that comes with Roku Ultra work if my screen doesn't support sound?

You could use an HDMI audio extractor.  I would think plugging headphones into the remote would work, but you'd be going through batteries pretty regularly.

If you want to add sound to your screen along with roku capabilities, the roku sound bar might be the best approach: https://www.amazon.com/Roku-Soundbar-built-Streaming-Player/dp/B085FSVM75

You can't connect generic bluetooth speakers to a roku, but the headphone out jack on the remote will work.  Also, there is a roku phone app that will send audio to headphones paired with your phone, although people have mixed results with that, depending on their wifi.
