Airplay from iPad to Roku using iTunes without internet

I have purchased downloaded movies on my iPad Pro. I also have a Roku Streaming Stick +. I noticed that while monitoring data use, when I Airplay, it seems that the movie streams instead of plays the local file on my iPad.

I feel like I am missing something, what could it be? Is there not a way to not stream it using data and simply play the file locally?

@travisr912

Thanks for the post.

Are the movies that you have purchased streamed through online or are they stored on your iPad? Some movies although they have been purchased are not physically stored on a device, but rather granted access when purchased.

With more information we will be able to assist you further.

Thanks,
Danny

Re: Airplay from iPad to Roku using iTunes without internet

Hi Danny,

I can confirm that I purchased these movies and then downloaded them to my iPad. I can 100 percent confirm this. It seems that when I play them via the USB-C to HDMI port there is no data being used. When I try to Airplay there is data being used.

Thank you for the help!
