2016 Premiere+ (4630 ) vs 2017 Ultra (4660/4661) - other than remote any difference?

I have a number of 4630's around my house. Thinking about adding an Ultra and wondering whether it matters where it goes.

I'm aware of the difference in the remote (TV power/vol) but from the specs here the only other difference I see is the processor -- MStar MSO9380 1.2 GHz vs ARM Cortex A53

Assuming the remote is not relevant to my setup is there any other reason I'd care where the Ultra goes or will the performance/experience be pretty much identical?

Thanks!

A world of difference in the response time between these two models. Ultra is noticeably snappier.

According to Roku's own SDK docs, both of those models have the same ARM Cortex A53 quad core at 1.2 GHz.

So no, there won't be a noticeable speed difference.

Thanks Bacon! Sounds like the data on the Wikipedia page must be incorrect. Are the docs you're talking about part of this collection:

and if so (or if not) c...

Re: 2016 Premiere+ (4630 ) vs 2017 Ultra (4660/4661) - other than remote any difference?

Adding further to my confusion, this page:

https://wikidevi.com/wiki/Roku_Premiere%2B_(4630X)

seems to refer to the 2 processors as though they're the same thing:

There's a link there to the FCC filings but it's definitely beyond my technical skills to find the answer in those filings.

Thanks again for any help!

The current Premiere devices and the Ultra use the same processor. But OP has the previous Premiere device. I have one of the previous devices and it performs almost as good as my Ultra. Almost.

Interesting page, but incomplete. Strange for an "official" Roku document. It doesn't mention the current Premiere (3920) or the Roku 4 (4K but no HDR). Also some misspellings. Also interesting that the 2 XS wasn't the only Bluetooth enabled player.

Years ago, I had a Roku 2 XD along with a Roku 2 XS and discovered that they were the same device, apart from the included remote. I had tried pairing my Roku 2 XS remote with the 2 XD and it worked, so I bought a second Bluetooth remote and used it with the Roku 2 XD, effectively "upgrading" it. I had not comfirmed the Roku 2 HD also worked with the Bluetooth remote, but this pretty much confirms that.
