Weather Apps

Are there any weather apps than can be incorporated into a channel? I know there are channels like Weather Underground, but are there any that allows integration into channels. If not, is it possible to launch a channel from inside another channel?
Thanks

Re: Weather Apps

I don't know of any apps that will allow incorporation. In the past, whenever I've wanted to incorporate weather into an app, I've used either the XML or SOAP services provided by the National Weather Service.

XLM - http://w1.weather.gov/xml/current_obs/

SOAP - http://graphical.weather.gov/xml/

Re: Weather Apps

Generally speaking, unless you want to write your own back end for gathering the raw weather data from the National Weather Service, you'll likely need to pay to use an API like Weather Underground or the Weather Channel, which isn't particularly cheap.

You made me realize I wasn't very clear in what I said. I did write my own back end whenever I used their services. I didn't mean to imply they provided a product you could just drop into an app. Thanks for clarifying that.

And you are absolutely correct in that, last time I checked, their APIs are not cheap!

I actually ended up doing the same for all of my weather data. It's awesome once it's all in place, but it took me a good while to get there, so it's not for the faint-hearted!
