I submitted my channel package
Sunday Night March the 15.
My Channel is called
“Masters of Delta Blues Guitar”
This channel is acoustic guitar instruction
that focuses on Delta Blues music.
I have about 25 videos that were uploaded in
the mp4 format and most of these videos
would be about 125 megabytes in size.
I used Handbrake to change these videos
from a .mov to a .mp4 and had the bit rate
set at 2048.
My question is is 2048 too large of a bitrate
for these videos to stream successfully?
One thing I have noticed on my end is they work great in the daytime but at night there is a lag.
I have Verizon DSL as my internet provider
and have the videos hosted on my server at
Dreamhost.com (which I believe is a shared server).

The Channel should be starting the approval process
shortly.

Video editing Software, I have the latest version of Final Cut X
and also Handbrake on my 3.5 Gighz Mac running the latest OS.
I wonder if there are templates or Settings in Final Cut or Handbrake that would work.

No, 2048 is not too large of a bitrate. Perhaps a little low if you are delivering HD quality video.

You might find that your Dreamhost isn't sufficient to handle streaming to thousands of viewers. I see they have a "DreamSpeed CDN" offering - an edge cache network like that would (theoretically) make your single server solution work better, since each video would be downloaded once to the regional servers and then distributed to users from the edge servers.

Make sure you have planned your monetization strategy carefully as delivering video can get quite expensive.

Thanks a million Joel! Thats great news. What is strange is it seems the in the daytime
the video download is good with the opposite for the night time.
I was wondering if maybe I did not have these optimized properly,
I used to use compressor with Final Cut do you think it would be be
worth looking into trying to optimize?

I am going to email Dreamhost.
Any other hosts you might recommend?
