Embedded subtitle language defaults to English in video dialog

We are moving away from using sideloaded subtitles to using subtitles embedded in our hls streams. This appears to work great on most devices, but we're seeing some strange behavior on older Roku 2 and Roku 3 models (specifically 4200X and 3100X, all on v8.1).

Those players use the older style settings dialog in the player instead of the sliding left panel settings. If a user selects a different subtitle language from the dialog (Spanish, for example), let's the video play, and opens the settings dialog again then the subtitle language will be set to English. If they then close the dialog without changing anything then the subtitle language setting will revert back to English.

This appears to be a firmware bug, but I wanted to see if anyone else was experiencing this issue and if there is a workaround.

Re: Embedded subtitle language defaults to English in video dialog

Are the user's settings in the system for "Accessibilty/Captions preferred language" set to English?
