Automation for Music Video channel

Hello,

Just discovered Roku and love it! I'm thinking about starting a music video channel. Is it possible to program the channel with a playlist of videos that plays in a live stream as opposed to programming it as VOD? Think of classic MTV with a block of videos and station bumpers/ids. We would also insert commercials as well. Is that possible and can anyone suggest any TV automation software?

Thanks for any suggestions!

Re: Automation for Music Video channel

This is possible with HLS video. Here is one company http://www.mdialog.com/dynamic-ad.html that does advertising insertion into HLS streams, as far as playlist managment, you will have to do some google searching, or, roll your own. (edit) looks like mdialog also does content management as well. I'm pretty sure there are several other companies that also do all of the above.

Re: Automation for Music Video channel

Thanks Joel!

I appreciate your quick response and suggestions. Sent a query to the company. That was exactly what i was looking for in terms of commercial insertions. I'm not sure if you can help me further with this. Is doing this channel this way sensible or a little impractical?

Can I do this channel 24/7 with a scheduled playlist?

Is this too ambitious or too costly for the platform as far as streaming and bandwidth? Basically what i'm trying to do is create a 24/7 music channels that plays videos all day long.

Thanks
