I purchased and set up the Roku Premiere, not realizing that it contained a 'simple' remote. It has NO power button, volume controls or 'push to talk voice'!! I thought it easiest to buy another controller rather than uninstall the current system and reinstall a package that has a fully functional remote. Our system was rather complex to set up.
If I take the batteries out of the 'simple' remote, put batteries into the new one, will the new remote automatically sinc to the system that is already installed??
Or would I be better off to uninstall current system, return it and buy a version that comes with a fully functional remote??
Thanks!
Just buy the new voice wifi remote, yes you will have to pair it to the premiere it won't work straight out of the package. Use the IR remote that came with the premiere to get to remote settings:
settings> remote & devices> set up new device> remote> continue> now follow prompts
The Premiere was discontinued in May. Did you buy it before then? If not, did you get a discounted price for a discontinued item? If not, consider returning it.
Yes, they are good devices, but before shelling out another $20 for a Roku Voice Remote, consider how much you will have put into it, and how much you could get a better device today for a comparable amount of money.
Of course, if you bought it prior to discontinuance, or got a great price on it, then yeah, the Voice Remote is the way to go.
