setting up an extra remote

am I able to use a non-Roku remote control with my Roku tv?  if, so how do I program it as it searched for another remote and couldn't find it.

It depends on the remote you have? Roku tv' power and volume get be controlled with universal remotes 30 years old. But not menu and transport commands. Universal remotes that control roku tv well are the Inteset 422-3 and One-For-All urc-7880. They give access to commands not preset on the roku remote many discrete channels like Disney+ and Apple tv.
