We just purchased the Roku Ultra HD/4K/HDR and within 6 days of use, we have now replaced the batteries 3 times. Will the rechargeable Roko remote fix this? We do use the prie listening often. Thank you
If you don't remove the headphones when you're no longer streaming it will kill the batteries quickly. I would imagine the rechargeable remote would also die quickly if the headphones are not removed, but I can't say that I've tested it.
High quality rechargeable NIMH batteries should also improve things.
@Bebopgramma There is a reason why your batteries are draining. Are you using private listening? How much do you use the remote? 8-10 hours a day? More? Did you use the batteries that came with your remote? Did you try newer better batteries? The batteries that come with your remote are generic.
Yes, we have replaced the batteries that came with the remote with Energizer Max. The private listening is used at least 4 to 6 hours/day. Thank you.
Hi @Bebopgramma,
Saw your post regarding your battery drain issue.
If you are still having any issues, please provide the serial number of your Roku device by going to Settings > System > About.
Please keep us posted and we'll continue assisting you from there.
Best regards,
Mary
Nice to hear from you Mary. The serial number of the Roku we use the most and especially with private listening is: X010000TSH75.
My husband uses the private listening most all of the time he watches TV.
Thank you and all the others here who have answered.
@Bebopgramma using private listening 4-6 hours a day 7 days a week. Will certainly kill the remote battery. That’s completely normal. The average smartphone battery lasts about 10-12 hours on a full charge. You may want to look into another source of using headphones. You can use your smartphone with Bluetooth headphones or earbuds. If your Smart phone actually excepts a 3.5 mm head Jack then you can use wired headphones. Also some TVs actually have a 3.5 mm headphone jack. You would have to run an awful long cable but that’s another choice. If you don’t use the private listening how long does your battery last? I’m sure it will last at least 2-3 months.
