Re: pairing new remote- sharp

I assume you have a Sharp Roku TV?  You either need a Sharp Roku TV remote or a Roku remote with a pairing button.  A Roku simple remote without a pairing button will never work on a Roku TV.  A Roku TV remote for a brand other than Sharp is also not likely to work.

Learned from our resident remote expert @Tivoburkee (I THINK I got this right):

Remotes from HiSense and Sharp can only be used with HiSense and Sharp Roku TVs because they issue a different set of IR commands than the rest of the Roku TV manufacturers. The Roku TVs from HiSense and Sharp, though, support both sets of IR commands so they can be used with remotes from any Roku TV manufacturer.
