when I load a movie along with the srt subtitle file or tv show on my USB to play on my Roku tv the srt subtitles files aren't visible when the show is playing...why??
We have to check the simple things first. I assume you're using the Roku Media Player? Is the SRT file named the same as the video file with only the extension being different? Have you enabled subtitles/captions during playback using the Option (*) button?
@renojim I have been having troubles with enabling srt subtitles on my ROKU player ever since I bought it years ago. I use the paid Playon media player software. On your questions:
Is the SRT file named the same as the video file with only the extension being different? - YES
Have you enabled subtitles/captions during playback using the Option (*) button? - YES (it only states bluntly that captions are NOT available!)
Nothing really works, so now I am considering ditching the ROKU rubbish and getting any random android TV box from Chine, which plays everything and is half the ROKU rubbish price......
@Dan47, I can't help you with the paid Playon channel, but that could be where your problem lies. It may use a different method of enabling SRTs or not support them at all.
