I have a Roku tv that came with a remote, and I have extra remotes paired to the tv as well. I just got the latest Roku Ultra and set it up. It works fine, but my older remotes don't allow anything more than power on/off. The tv was set up on HDMI-1 and I plugged the Ultra into HDMI-2. When I use the old remotes, it immediately goes to 1, and the new remote immediately goes to 2. Could I just plug into HDMI-1 to resolve, or will the old remotes not function any longer?
I assume the "old" remote(s) are for the TV. The TV can be setup to go to any HDMI input on startup so you can change that to HDMI 2 but the TV remotes will not work to control the Roku ultra if that is your question.
Just confirmed the old remotes aren't going to work with Ultra. Rather than return the Ultra, can I purchase extra remotes only to pair with the Ultra?
Remotes for the ultra commonly available.
If you don't need voice search or headphone socket for private listening, then cheap IR remotes should be fine (including clones and universals, e.g. oneforall 7935). Available at all the usual internet places.
Otherwise get a micro usb rechargeable voice remote pro if you can, will pair to ultra or TV. Find via roku accessories website.
Thanks for the advice. I had eventually come to that conclusion after further research. I want the usb rechargeable battery one, but Roku doesn't have any, nor does any of the retail shops that Roku suggests purchasing them from. Maybe a supply chain issue?
I managed to get a couple from Amazon.com a few weeks back, shipped to the UK. On sale at Amazon which made the total price including shipping tolerable, arrived in a week.
None available in the UK though, doesn't ever seem to have been. And Roku doesn't offer the add on wireless speakers in the UK (and the ones available in the US are not multi voltage which is unusual in this day and age..and I'm not willing to have to use a 110v building site transformer to power them).
