broken: support link reference is a 404

go.roku.com/remotehelp    no longer works 404. It is referenced in several places, and I can't find a way to tell Roku; someone should.

Thanks.

For me, go.roku.com/remotehelp auto-forwarded to https://support.roku.com/article/208755708

Re: broken: support link reference is a 404

Thank you for that link, it had a lot of information. Why the link worked for you and not me...? I am using Firefox.

Anyway, nothing there helped my specific problem; I have two TCL smart tvs next to each other, a 32" and a 40"; the 40" uses a voice option remote and just controls the 40; the 32" remote is an older remote, no voice, and it controls both tvs, making it difficult to change just one. I've tried unplugging and re-pairing, but I'm either doing it wrong, or the basic remote just isn't up to the task.

Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thank you.

@opromytius

Get a Voice Remote ($20) for the other TV and stop using the IR remote that came with it. You can pick them up at Walmart, Best Buy, Target, and other retailers and have it running today. Or order online.

Re: broken: support link reference is a 404

The non-voice remote, if it's one that came with the set, likely controls the tv via direct line of sight infrared (IR), which will control ANY Roku TV.  If the two sets are both where the IR can reach it, it will control both of them.

[Edited later to add:
Exception: Roku TVs from Sanyo and HiSense respond to both the standard IR command set mentioned above and to their own separate command Sanyo/HiSense command set.  The remotes from Sanyo/HiSense only emit the Sanyo/HiSense contol set and will not control Roku TVs from other manufacturers..]

The voice remote controls via point-anywhere wifi-direct that is linked to just the TV it is controlling

So, find the IR receptor on the front of the voice-remote-controlled TV and block it, perhaps with some opaque tape.  You may have to experiment a bit if the location of the receptor is not visually obvious.

Thanks, I'll try that, I'm a duct tape master! Also, another member suggested getting a voice controlled remote to replace the old one, which I will probably end up doing; for now, where's that tape?

Thanks!

A lot of roku links don't work correctly outside of US.  Website detects accessing from UK and rewrites URL to include end_gb locale and not all of the content is published to that locale.  Very annoying!
