I picked up the new Ultra when it was on sale. The first thing I did was pair an old remote with the headphone jack to see if the jack would work and it did. So the technology is still there, they just removed the headphone jack from the new remotes.

I can think of 2 reasons why they did this:

They save a few pennies per remote.

Too many people that used the jack were complaining about bad battery life.

Just to let you know, we decided to remove the headphone jack to improve the battery life of the Roku remote. But don't worry, you can still use Headphones with your Roku device using our Roku mobile app.
