Don't have anything like Alexa (and don't want one, either). Really want a remote with numbers but the voice remote may be a work around as long as it can work as a standalone remote for roku express. Is this possible?
It works stand-alone. There have been many "Express" models over the years and I don't know if it works with all of them. What's the model number shown under Settings->System->About?
MODEL: 3900RW-R01W EXPRESS
S/N: Y600H8358414
SOFTWARE: 10.0.0 BUILD 4209-S1
Thanks
It will work with your Express.
Not to sound dense but with the voice remote I could say something like go to channel 6.2 and it would understand? Appreciate you input so far. Will probably order up a voice remote and give it a try. Thanks again.
You're not sounding dense at all. I was focused on the question of whether the remote would work with your Express, not the issue of not having number buttons. Since you mentioned channel 6.2, that makes me think you want to use the remote to control your TV's tuner to change the channel. Is that correct? If so, it definitely won't do that. I'm not even sure if the voice remote would control a Roku TV (with a built-in tuner) to change the channel like that, but you have an Express, not a Roku TV.
Now if you're talking about the "Live TV" channels that are within The Roku Channel, it will work to go to a specific channel like 128 or 155, etc. I don't believe any of those channels are numbered like 6.2, so that's why I'm trying to make sure I'm attempting to answer the question you're asking.
We are both on a similar track. I want the remote to be able to control the content coming into the Roku express such as Fubo or Sling or the like. My goal in all of this is to eliminate cable completely. There is terrible antenna reception so to get any local channels they would have to come in via Fubo for instance. Our local NBC channel is 6 but if Fubo calls it 223 or something I want to be able to get to it by saying channel 223 without finding a grid or total listing to go through or whatever.
This discussion should clear things up for a lot of people.
Thanks
