Since it's initial setup, and if you've followed the instructions at https://support.roku.com/article/360011621473 then you may want to do a factory reset, essentially starting over.
Remove the batteries, then with power attached, press and hold the RESET button on the Roku device for no less than 30 seconds. Then put the batteries back in and try again.
