I purchased the Express+ about 2 months ago. I updated the device and now I get sound but as soon as I click on a show to watch the screen goes black. I only get the sound. I am able to reset the device and then it works correctly for about 24 hours then back to the black screen again. Any ideas on how to fix this?
What firmware version/build does it have? Settings/System/About
Try manually configuring the display: Settings/Display type/720p or 1080p (dont use Auto-detect).
I frequently see this on my Streaming Stick+ since Roku 10 arrived. It doesn't do it all the time for me, but enough to be an irritant. An immediate push of the Rewind button takes it back to the beginning of the program and fixes it for me until the end of the episode. I mostly watch Hulu w/o ads but just saw it for the first time when starting a movie on Watch TCM.
I always set all my Roku devices to the TV's actual resolution rather than "Auto detect".
Delete/restart/re-install of Hulu has not fixed it.
I frequently do a manual system update check (Settings > System > System update > Check now) hoping for a Roku 10 update with a fix, but so far it has netted a few channel updates, but he problem remains.
I suspect a Factory Reset might fix it, but this entails more work to re-establish all my subscription and streaming companions-to-cable-stations than I'm willing to do at this point -- an occasional press of the rewind button is less hassle.
