While I've seen this posted a bunch, I've seen no reliable answers (except the occasional email me!).
Last week, our Roku suddenly stopped responding to both the original remote and to the Roku app. In desperation, I unplugged it from the TV to stop it playing, after which I discovered that the micro USB on the power cable had snapped. We replaced it with a new power cable, but all settings were completely reset, so we had to start from scratch. Following the re-pairing instructions on the website was unsuccessful, and so was attempting to reset the remote or following them with the wifi turned off. We finally bought a new remote, and again followed all the instructions, but have been stuck in the same place: the remote pairing light is blinking, the Roku is asking to "pair your remote", and absolutely nothing happens.
The most likely answer at this stage is that the pairing receiver on the Roku streaming stick is what is broken, but that possibility (or diagnostic steps) isn't mentioned anywhere. If true, the only option is to replace the streaming stick.
Any advice? When this happens is replacing the whole Roku itself the only next step?
TIA!
If the 'Micro USB' on the short USB cable with the thick antenna "snapped off", you'll need a new Advanced Wireless Receiver (thats what that short cable is)
$19.99 https://www.roku.com/products/accessories/streaming-stick#Cables
The connector on the Advanced Wireless Receiver is a mini-usb connector, not micro, and the other end has A-type usb connector which attaches to usb extender to make it longer enough.
I may have used the wrong term for the cable; as mentioned above, we were able to swap it out for another one we had and got the Roku working again. Since it turned on and the start up process came up, I think it's safe to assume that we've resolved the power issue already and the pairing issue in my post is our key question. Are there any thoughts on that?

Its still not clear what broke and where: The 3810 uses a special "external interface + antenna" (AWR) that is within the short USB cable (with the thick part in it) - without this short cable (a bit longer than a foot, with the thick part in it) connected and working properly, the 3810 (the stick) wont work properly.
You can connect another (non-AWR) USB cable for power to the 3810, but it wont work properly - it'll boot up, show the home screen, but it'll say "not connected" and your remote wont do anything.
Again, if you broke either end of the short (AWR) USB cable off, you MUST replace it in order for your 3810 to work properly.
