I have two Roku TVs. I’m using the remotes that came with them. The offers given do not match either one. Mine is so old they’re telling me i MUST upgrade.
Roku doesn't sell Roku tv IR remotes, you'll have to get them from Tv manufacturer. Roku does sell Wifi Voice remote that can be paired to any Roku tv. Do not go for $14.99 simple iR remote, it is worthless on ALL roku tv's. Its either $19.99 Voice remote, or the $29.99 rechargeable Voice remote Pro.
If you want cheap Roku tv IR remote fast, go with universal remote that says it will work on Roku tv's, don't get one that only claims to work on Roku.
You MUST upgrade your remote? Are you sure? I've never heard of anyone being required to upgrade a remote.
Remotes that come with Roku TVs are supplied by the TV manufacturers, not Roku.
Roku TV remotes connect by infrared (IR) and are relatively inexpensive. (Remotes for Roku DEVICES use a different IR command set than Roku TVs, so IR remotes for Roku devices won't control Roku TVs, or vice versa.) Being IR remotes, Roku TV remotes "just work" without being paired to the Roku TV. You may be able to find them locally at Best Buy, Wal-Mart, Target, etc, or of course at online sources like Amazon and eBay, but not from Roku.
Roku TV remotes from any Roku TV manufacturer or from third party suppliers (be sure they say "Roku TV" and not just "Roku") largely use the same standard set of IR commands and are interchangeable for use on Roku TVs from other manufacturers.
Thanks to @Tivoburkee for this info.
As mentioned by @Tivoburkee, Roku TVs also will support either of the Roku "Voice Remotes". You may be able to find these locally at Best Buy, Wal-Mart, Target, etc, or of course at online sources like Amazon, eBay, and from Roku itself. These are point-anywhere remotes that connect to the TV via WiFi-direct, and must be paired to the TV to enable them to communicate. Pairing instructions are included with the remote.
