I have a roku express model 3700X connected to Samsung 1080p tv. Works with I/R remote. Just got a new enhanced remote. Cannot get the Roku to pair with the new remote. Tried restart. Removed batteries from remote, replaced, pair light is blinking. Nothing. I/R still works fine. Do I have to unpair the I/R remote in order for the enhanced remote to be recognized by the device? Factory reset?
Sorry but the 3700 express can only use an IR remote, it can't be paired to a wifi remote at all. Same for 3710 express+. Express models after those could like 3900. I would switch to using universal remote with roku code on board, that way you can also control your tv volume too.
Echoing @Tivoburkee. Unfortunately, incompatible remote.

So I have an express model 3930 that worked with an enhanced remote on a 4K HDTV. I move the ROKU to the Samsung 1080P tv and now the enhanced remote will not get recognized by the roku express. Is it the TV?
As stated the express 3700 WILL NEVER use wifi enhanced remote period. Has nothing to do with which brand of tv its connected to.
If you saying you switched express 3930 to different tv and volume no longer controls the tv, right it has to be reprogrammed for the tv brand.
Was working on responding and saw @Tivoburkee responded.
Here is a nice shorter explanation from @Tivoburkee that may help clear it up for you. https://community.roku.com/t5/Remotes-Accessories/Roku-express-compatible-remotes/m-p/541744
My longer attempt....
If I understand it correctly, normal users use the term "enhanced remote" to refer to remotes upgrading from Roku's simple remote.
For Roku's purposes., Roku's Enhanced Voice Remote is different than Roku's Voice Remote. The Enhanced Voice Remote is not compatible with the Express at all...yet, regardless of Express model number (as I undertsand it).
The only upgraded Roku remote compatible with the Express model 3900 and above is the Roku Voice Remote.
If you have an Express 3700 like original post indicated, then you are stuck with Roku's Simple Remote or you have to use a Universal Streaming Remote that is compatible with Roku (available Walmart, Best Buy, etc,) It should indicate that it is compatible with Roku.
If you have an Express 3930 like your latest post, then you need Roku's Voice Remote, not Roku's Enhanced Voice Remote (these are different products). Or again, you can use a Universal Streaming Remote.
Then you will have to program it to control your TV's volume and Power after you get it connected/paired to your Roku Device.
@Tivoburkee can correct me if any above is wrong.
I agree we everything you wrote. 🙂
I am confused. I do have a roku voice remote, but I'm not sure if it is the "enhanced" voice remote or the regular voice remote. It should not matter because I had the express 3930 hooked up to a different tv and the voice remote worked fine with it. I got a streaming stick for that tv so I took the express 3930 and moved it with the voice remote for it to a new tv and the roku works fine but will not pair with the remote now. I don't get it. It worked fine on another tv, stopped pairing with the remote on the new tv
The Enhanced voice remote is bigger with headphone jack built-in, the regular voice remote smaller without a headphone jack.
If the new tv uses a different IR code then the previous tv then you have to reprogram the roku remote for the new tv brand:
settings> remote & devices> remote> remote in use> program tv> follow prompts
I have the regular voice remote. It's not that the tv on/off-volume don't work with the remote. I get nothing with the new remote. Won't pair at all. The new tv is a different model than the tv it was hooked up to.
