Solved Roku ss + 4k can be control by LG Magic remote by set control by mobile set to permissive.
This has worked for two years of my LG OLED C1 55 inch and it stop working on the update from Roku on 1/8/2025 and Roku say it does not work but it does in fact work and good thing because I rather use the apps of the TV than two remotes!
On the LG OLED TV the Roku only works in HDMI port two that is an (e)ARC port for certain it may work on other ports once you fix the Roku setting problem. Use the ARC port for now and the set the universal setting for HDMI port two an OTT device and Roku device. Then why it stopped working on the Roku stick go to settings/system/ advanced system settings/ controlled by mobile apps network set to permissive and then power off and on the Roku to change the setting and then it will work again!
If you follow the instruction correct this works. If you cannot follow the instructions then of course it not work, I carefully test this solution of my LG C1 55 OLED TV and it does work. If you do not follow all the instructions of course it will not work if you leave one part out. Wrong information confuses other people that need the help.
First set the Roku mobile apps setting to permissive and restart the Roku.
The streaming stick has to be plugged in HDMI port 2 which an eARC port and you have to set the LG TV universal control settings and test them.
Roku is OTT type and the Roku available to configure. If you cancel the setup enough you can also put the model number in.
Make sure the test setting are pointers, if not re-seat the Roku, that mean take it out and put it back in.
If you do not like my solution maybe you should ask Roku? Roku said to me that the LG Magic Remote is not compatible and does not work when it has worked for me for two years; and the instructions provided work for me after the update 1/8/2025 without Roku's help. In the end it is for Roku to provide the solution this one works for me.
Nope. Still does not work

Easy guy. I was just asking another suggestions. I did what you said. The thing that confuses me is it worked, then two months later it didn’t. I appreciate your suggestion. Was not criticizing. Don’t take my response as negative. Is there anyway we can check if there was an update lately from Roku.
Simplifying:
Settings > System > Advanced system settings > Control by mobile apps > Network access
Set this to PERMISSIVE or ENABLED. (It may have been set to LIMITED by a recent update)
Wow! This solution worked. After being able to use my LG remote foe a couple of years, I lost my pairing between my Roku stick and my LG magic remote. I spent innumerable hours trying to re-pair the devices before finding your solution that actually worked. I am delighted!!
The LG Magic remote stopped working with Roku again on 2/10/2025 the day before an LG update and LG says they do not know when it will be fixed.
Re: Roku ss (+) 4k cannot be control by LG Magic remote Universal settings stop working 2/10/2025 the day before LG push out a TV update LG say they do not know when they will have a fix. Since the LG Magic remote has worked with the Roku streaming stick for at least 3 years, it is unknown why LG would stop supporting their Magic remote on such an expensive TV, it would suggest another brand?
@alannsandiego2, set Control by mobile apps to Enabled or Permissive under the Advanced system settingsl.
this is already done 1/8/2025 the first time this fail this year, this is a new problem on 2/10/2025
