Re: Roku stick buttons not working

@Craigdav-

Roku point-anywhere remotes have two sets of controls, one for limited functions of the tv set (volume, mute, power) and one for the Roku itself.  In order to control the Roku, a point-anywhere remote must be PAIRED to the Roku.  Sounds like you need to re-pair the remote to your Roku.

Video from Roku re how to pair point-anywhere remote:

You may find your Roku is only receptive to the pairing request from the remote for a short period of time after it starts up. Try pulling the power to the Roku for a few seconds then plugging it back in and waiting for it to start up before reinserting the batteries in the remote and pressing the pairing button.

Re: Roku stick buttons not working

Streaming Stick + is increasingly unresponsive to remote, while TV volume has no problem. Tried all recommended solutions (batteries, reboots, pairing, etc.)--problem remains, or resolves for short period.
Also, increase in loading/buffering issues despite other internet/wifi devices working fine (esp. when using SlingTV). Clear line of sight to router/gateway. Did I just buy junk? A forced upsell?

And now, this message keeps getting "Submission Error-Please Try Again" from support.

Reconsidering Cable.
Seriously, even my tiny cheap antenna gets more consistent/clear reception.

This has always worked for me to re-establish my net connection when it has been lost or not performing well:

    • Restart the router (even if other devices have no problem finding and connecting). Sometimes that's all it takes, if not keep going.
    • Restart the Roku to clear its memory. Depending on your Roku model and Roku version number you'll find the System restart option under either Settings > System or Settings > System > Power. Again sometimes that's all it takes, if not keep going.
    • Find and connect to your network via Settings > Network > Set up connection.

If that doesn't fix it, try disconnecting the power to your Roku for a few seconds.  When it comes back up, see if you then can set up the network connection.

Re: Roku stick buttons not working

A friend suggested checking Wifi reception. Said that sticks are finicky at or below GOOD.  Mine fluctuated between GOOD and FAIR, so she loaned me a Wifi extender which raised reception to EXCELLENT and problem seems to be resolved for now.  Will see if I can relocate Gateway for better reception, but will probably need to buy extender.

Will post update in a few days/weeks.
