Roku remote will not work with Vizio tv

 I have a Vizio M55d-A2 tv and I can’t get my Roku 3500 purple remote to turn the tv on/off or change the volume. I have tried to program it as a Vizio, LG, Goldstar and others with no luck. The tv is a smart tv but I prefer to use the Roku remote.

The 3500 purple stick should not pair with a Roku voice remote with tv controls. Without it paired to the Roku it can't program a tv brand in. The 3500 stick can be paired with Roku 3 remotes that have volume keys no tv power, but it then controls the tv by cec instead of IR.
