starting a Netflix movie on Roku remote and the movie would not keep playing. I had to keep it going by hitting pause and continue over and over. suddenly the movie and the Roku remote froze and would not be unfrozen. I tried getting back to the Roku Home and that would not work. I tried new batteries in the Roku remote and that did not work. The connections seem to be okay. I left the HDMI and went back to the regular TV and waited 3 hours. When I went back to the ROKU channel I tried going to Home and nothing. This morning I went to ROKU channel after another 8 hours. The usual background showed and when I tried to go to ROKU home, nothing. What do I do? I cannot get to Netflix or any other streaming service. Anyone have this problem? Can anyone help? Does ROKU have support help for customers? Is there a way to reset the ROKU remote?
Have you tried resetting the Roku? Either by the little button or by just pulling the USP power cable and plugging it back in?
I tried pushing the little red circle button on Roku stick at upper top of Roku remote several times and still nothing. I have not tried unplugging the power cord yet. I will try that next and see if that works. Thanks.
I think you mean the power button - but that doesn't affect the Roku at all. The Roku is on all the time, and the power button is only meant for the TV. Also, the Roku has be functioning properly to receive commands from the remote and I think yours may have gotten confused.
I think the remote is very much likely confused. But how do I get it unconfused?
OK, I unplugged the power cord and that did not work. However, I found out that unplugging the power cord and removing the remote batteries and then plugging in the power cord and putting the batteries back in, then waiting for the ROKU symbol to come up on the screen, then pushing the pairing button under the battery cover reset the remote and it was good to go. However, Netflix has a serious problem and will continue movies or series and messed up the remote. so beware of Netflix!!!
Netflix does not continue movies or series and messes up Roku remote. Sorry I made error in my last post. Netflix does NOT continue movies or series.
When problems are confined to a particular channel, such as Netflix, it may be that the channel did not install correctly, has received a faulty update, or has subsequently gotten corrupted. A reinstall of the channel to get its latest version may fix the problem, so that is the first thing I would try. Remove/reinstall procedure:
If the problem persists at this point, it typically means the current version of the channel app has a problem that must be addressed by the channel itself as they are the ones that create the Roku-compatible version of their app and provide it to Roku.
Thanks Makalguy, I did all these steps and tried Netflix on ROKU streaming. Still Netflix movies froze. So I went to Netflix on web and did a live chat. They told me to do all the things that you mentioned and I told them that I had already done them and still movies froze. they then told me to call my internet service provider and have them set my router and modem to default settings and start them fresh from beginning as there must be some interference on the lines that keep Netflix from working properly. When I told them that the other streaming services work fine and do not freeze, they said to talk to internet service provider. So I guess I will call ISP and see what they say. In meantime, I unplugged the router and modem and I am waiting for them to reset before I try Netflix on ROKU on my TV again.
