Roku remote controls tv and not Roku device

I just hooked up my Roku premiere to my Hisense Android tv. The strange thing is the remote will only control my tv and not the Roku. What the heck is going on? Anyone have a solution I could try? Thanks

The premiere oem remote is IR only, meaning no tv controls. If your remote has tv power and volume keys its either wifi roku remote in which case it has to be paired to your roku before it would work. Or its Roku tv IR remote which case its useless on your roku premiere. Describe the remote? What is model number in the battery compartment? Is there a pairing button in the battery compartment?
