I am able to use the remote to turn on the TV but it won't work in Roku app. I would have to take out battery every time and wait a few second then the remote would work, and I have to do this everytime. I can't figure out what the issue is.

Is this a Roku stick and/or are you using the TV's USB port to power the Roku device?  If so, try the supplied power adapter.
