I just got the Roku Voice Remote Pro. It paired with our TCL Roku TV without issue, using a wireless connection, but won't control our Alto 5 Sound Bar, which requires infrared. Is there any way to make the Remote control both? I believe it has IR capabilities - any way for me to access them to control our sound bar? Thanks!
Sorry but when roku wifi remote like the voice pro is paired to a roku tv it controls the volume by wifi, and not IR, like it would be for non-roku tv's. The only way to switch the remote to IR is unplug the tv from the power.
The alto 5 can't be controlled via hdmi-cec? So the roku remote controls the tv and tv controls the soundbar by cec.
Thanks for the reply! Too bad there's no way to override to IR. And, no, the Alto 5 doesn't have HDMI (only optical cable), so it sounds like I have to either buy a new sound bar with HDMI, or return this remote. I'll be returning the remote, sadly!
Look into the One-For-All urc-7935 streamer remote, its a one device remote that can control thre different devices, Streamer's, Tv's, and Soundbar's. Different areas of the remote are for different devices. Its also a learning remote. Here's it next to Roku tv remote:
That can be found on ebay for $12.00 open box. It works great with roku tv's.
Thanks for the suggestion. Our old Roku remote will control the TV and sound bar just fine, both through IR. I was excited about the voice-activated "find my remote" function of the Roku Voice Remote Pro, because we lose it all the time. Maybe I can't have it all just yet...
