Roku Ultra remote draining batteries

I am very frustrated with the Roku Ultra remote w/ the headphones. I have been using this unit for about 6 weeks with the headphones and have been replacing batteries weekly. I have read about this problem which seems to be an ongoing issue with this unit with the headphones.

You can either wait for Roku to fix the problem(and keep replacing batteries) or just find/use a workaround solution and skip the frustration.  For most people, the workaround is to use the official Roku remote app in the Play Store or Apple Store which you download to a mobile device (phone/tablet, etc) that you can plug your headphones into for private listening.  You can even use the bluetooth features of your mobile device and wireless earbuds with this method.

Even though I don't have the draining battery problem, this is what I have always done since my phone battery is much better than the disposable alkaline batteries of a remote, is capable of being recharged, and can also be actively charging while using the headphones.  You can still use the physical remote to navigate and control Roku while listening on the phone/mobile device or simply use the app remote function as well.

While the built-in private listening of the physical remote is a very good and much appreciated idea/innovation by Roku, I think the mobile app private listening is by far the better way way to go regarding battery usage.  Just my two cents.

Same here. I think that has a lot to do with the voice feature [it's as if it is a lot like Alexa and is always listening]. I use earbuds a lot with that remote and it does drain the batteries, which I think is to be expected. I recently purchased rechargeable batteries and a charger for use with that remote.
