Re: Roku Ultra remote doing double click?

Hi there,

This occurs on my Roku Ultra, as well as on my two Hisense TVs with built-in Roku. I’ve tried updating Roku and replacing the remote batteries. The battery change seemed to help but I think it was a coincidence as the issue has recurred shortly after.

Re: Roku Ultra remote doing double click?

Greetings from the Roku Community, @CapnT87!

Thank you for letting us know about your remote concern. We'd be happy to suggest troubleshooting steps to help you resolve this.

Please try the following troubleshooting steps:

  • Reboot your Roku Ultra: navigate to the Settings > System > Power (skip if unavailable) > System restart
  • Reset your remote: press and hold the back and home buttons simultaneously for about 20 seconds. After doing so, pair it again.

Keep us posted on how it goes and we'll continue assisting you from there.

Best regards,
Carly

Re: Roku Ultra remote doing double click?

So, after seeing these issues, now I believe where my issue is coming into play. You've over corrected this issue and where I always used to only ever click any button once, I now have to click it twice to make the command work. Tell these people they've probably worn their remotes out and to go get new ones. And put things back the way they were! I don't like have to push play twice just to get play to accept. I don't like having to push the back arrow and then ok just to get it to function! I used to be able up just to hit the back skip button, and it skipped back and played on its own. NOT ANYMORE! THIS IS VERY ANNOYING, FIX IT!

And while you're at it, quit making me have to go into my email to get a stupid code every time I want to sign in. It's ridiculous and annoying and redundant. That's what the password is for. Thanks!

Re: Roku Ultra remote doing double click?

Happened to me with my Roku Streamer last week. Resetting control and Roku didn't work. I'm getting bored of this, the slow system, huge loading times, and having to re-sync the control once a month...

Re: Roku Ultra remote doing double click?

I have a solution here!

It's not Roku's issue. It's the Samsung TV issue. Samsung TV remote performs those extra clicks automatically as it's set up as a universal remote control for Roku. I personally have an S95D. I've heard people had the same issue with different models.

To fix it, go to Home -> Connected Devices -> Universal Remote Setup -> Select Roku -> Remove

Ads are not going to play automatically anymore, apps are not going to install automatically anymore, you will not have to click five times just to perform the same action anymore.

Please vote this post up if it worked for you, so other people can find this post faster.

Re: Roku Ultra remote doing double click?

Mine has started this issue as well

3820R2

takes 2 to power up

takes 2 to select anything

now if I hit twice then keep going it’s one per move but if I wait more than a couple seconds then it’s 2 clicks to initiate

it started about two weeks ago

Re: Roku Ultra remote doing double click?

Hi, @Optimus-Prime

Thanks for posting, and welcome to the Roku Community.

I understand the issue you have encountered with your Roku remote that double clicks, and I'm here to help.

Let's perform a troubleshooting step to resolve the issue. Follow the steps below:

Restart your Roku remote

  1. If your rechargeable voice remote has a pairing button, press and hold the pairing button on the back of the remote for 20 seconds.
  2. If your rechargeable voice remote does not have a pairing button, press and hold the Back and Home for 20 seconds.

Initiate Pairing Mode

  1. Restart your streaming device to enter pairing mode. Unplug the Roku device for 15 seconds, and plug it again.
  2. When your streaming device is powered on, it will automatically enter pairing mode
  3. If the remote does not initiate pairing, you can press the Home and Back button for 5 seconds to enter pairing mode.

Hope this helps, and let us know on what you find out.
