I am trying to get my Roku Streaming Stick (2nd Gen) - 3500X to connect to my phone. I've been using my phone with the stick for years but have recently moved. I've plugged the stick into a different TV that I will be using. It goes through all of the Roku things that it does and loads the regular Roku screen but will not connect to my app. I've bought a Onn Roku remote recently and attempted to pair them but that hasn't worked either. The new remote doesn't having a pairing button.
Looking for some help getting the roku connected to the new remote or at least my phone. In the app it shows the roku stick but it says not found on the network
It is impossible to connect the app to a Roku device until it's connected to the network. And with a Roku Stick of any model, the only way to connect it to a new network is with the Roku remote. The Roku Stick does not support an IR remote, so you can't use an inexpensive IR remote for that.
Also, the 3500 has a unique remote, so you can't use one for a different Roku of any model.
The Stick will automatically connect to the network if the wireless SSID name and password are identical to the last network it connected to. Make sure the SSID and password haven't been changed, and the Stick should reconnect on any TV you connect it to within that network's coverage area.
Roku 3 remotes like the rc03, rc07, rc08, and rc19 all pair with 3500 stick. So look for them on ebay. Each has headphone jack that WON'T work with 3500 stick. But the volume keys will if your tv has cec feature. And of course all other keys as well, once its paired.
