I just purchased a Roku Express TV Streamer and set it up today. It seems to work well (although I didn't know it does not have a TV volume control - surprise). One of the icons on the Home screen is supposed to turn off the TV. This does not work. I have a LG plasma TV. When I tried to shut off the TV using the Roku remote I got a message saying my TVs CEC is not enabled and directing me to Roku cechelp. As directed I opened the settings on my TV and found that it's Simplink (CEC) is enabled. The TV remote has a Simplink button as well. The problem is that clicking on the Roku Express Home screen's "TV Off" icon will not shut off the TV even though the TV's CEC is enabled. Any ideas?
One other thought: It would be nice if the supplied HDMI cable was another foot or two longer.
Probably just have to finish setting up the Express remote to work with your TV.
Navigate to Settings...Remotes.and Devices...Remote...Set up Remote for TV control.
The oem remote doesn't have tv controls as the OP wrote, so there's no need to to that.
Try refreshing the cec devices in the tv settings, make sure the 1-touch play box is checked in the roku settings.
Yup, my error. Thought the Express had the power button even if it did not have volume controls.
