I purchased a Roku Ultra 4802RW a few months ago, and in the past few days an incessant battery indicator has been appearing int he upper right hand corner. It appear every 3-5 seconds. THis is accompanied by the remote not reading inputs for similar time increments.
It isn't damaged. I don't have kida, and the remote sits on a calm table 99% of it's life.
It does not matter how much charge the remote battery has or doesn't have.
It does not matter how many times I reboot the roku box.
It does not matter how many times i un-pair, re-pair, or reset the remote.
It's got a rechargable battery, so no, swapping batteries won't work.
Infuriatingly, even when I attempt to un-pair the remote and just use a different control method (smartphone app, my TV's main remote, etc.), the remote always eventually magically re-pairs itself to our Roku box and starts annoying me with it's battery message again. I've even resorted to un-pairing the remote, throwing it into the trunk of my car outside, and it STILL powered itself back on and re-paired to start annoying me again. If it wasn't for the fact that I know I'd be killing my case for tech support, I would have cracked the thing open to disable it and thrown it in a lake by now.
As I said, this streaming box is fairly new. I think I bought it in March. I've only had to recharge the remote twice in the entire time I've owned the thing, and it's already broken. I'm loathe to just replace the remote, because for all I know it's the box that has the problem.
Fix it.
And since I know the first thing the mods will do is ask for it;
Model - 4802RW
Serial - X01000PNE95V
Software - 12.0.0 build 4184-C2
Mine is doing the exact same thing. It’s driving me nuts. It’s has brand new batteries and is constantly showing the battery indicator (full) but remote seems to be starting and stopping.

It's the voice remote that came with the system. I charge the remote for an hour or so, long enough to be full battery.
