My remote works for a about a week and then stops. I can reset the whole system but doing that weekly is a huge pain. The sound and power button always works on my remote but anything else doesn’t.

Restarting your Roku device, and your wireless router/modem is a great first step. Replacing the batteries in your remote can help. Changing the wireless broadcast channel on your wireless router, to one that isn't in use by another nearby wireless network, can reduce wireless interference and be extremely effective in improving remote functionality.
Please try doing this and see if it helps with what you're experiencing.

I have done all of that. After repairing the remote it works for a little while then stops again. The volume and power buttons always work but nothing else will.

What Roku device do you have (include the model number)?
What remote do you have (model number is in the battery compartment)?
