Remote issues with 2 Roku tvs next to each other

SO I have to TCL roku tvs mounted directly next to one another, I originally had 2 remotes that worked very well with staying paired only to 1 tv at a time but they broke so I had to purchase new ones. I purchased the 2nd gen roku voice remote with wifi connection as I was told that would be the best remote to keep the 2 tvs separate.

the issue I am having is that the second I turn one of the tvs on the remote instantly pairs to the tv, when I hit "forget remote" and unpair it it goes away and then the second I hit any button it repairs to the tv thats on... so each remote continues to pair to both tvs anytime I hit a button.

any solutions to this, is there a better remote option to avoid the crossover? the ones I had previously which are no longer made worked perfectly because I had to specifically pair it to each tv, these seem to want to pair automatically to any tv that is on without prompt

Re: Remote issues with 2 Roku tvs next to each other

I'm not completely following, but the remotes fall back to IR mode when they're not paired/connected to anything, so they'll control anything within the line of sight.  That may be what you're seeing.  You can test that theory by covering the end of the remote to see if it still controls the wrong TV.  I don't know if enabling "Fast TV start" under the Power settings would help keep the remotes active and not falling back to IR mode.

A remote should only pair to one device, but I've had issues getting a remote to pair to the desired device when there's others in the vicinity.  Make sure when you pair the remote to one TV, the other one is unplugged.

As for that "Forget remote", I'd love to know what it's supposed to do when it states, "It will still work and display in the list when any button is pressed".  Pretty much sounds like it isn't forgotten at all.

Re: Remote issues with 2 Roku tvs next to each other

Thanks for the tip, making sure 1 tv was unplugged while pairing the other worked perfectly. Each remote paired to the tv I intended it to. Appreciate the advice!
