My roku ultra remote has started to go haywire. The other night while I was away, my family called frantically telling me my TV was going off and on with the volume increasing each time until it hit 100. My roku hadn't been used in 2 days at this point.
Upon return my voice remote appeared to not work. My backup remote (old remote from previous gen.) Today I attempted to use the old remote and it wouldn't work. The voice remote would turn on, and move the roku cursor, but every other button (volume, home etc.) Will turn the TV off. It is also beeping after turning off the TV and the light on the roku base starts to flash uncontrollably. It will not work after that to turn the TV on or move the cursor.
I have attempted the reset multiple times. The problem still occurs yet in the latest reset, the language changed to Spanish and a voice prompt pops up.
I have had this roku just over a year. There is no explanation for this, and I am frustrated the roku page says "buy a new remote" as the only option for what appears to be an obvious software failure.
Any suggestions? My roku is basically a brick if I don't use my phone now.
Sounds like IR inteference from remote stuck in the cushions or something on top of one. When the roku light is blinking try standing in front of the roku at different angles to see if you can block the in coming signal and pinpoint its location?
The older remote is no longer visible in my roku system and it can't seem to detect it to use anymore. The Voice remote, as soon a button is pushed (no matter which way it is pointed or where) starts the light show. The light goes from steady white to almost a strobe until I take out the batteries. It was sitting on a side table when the issue started at midnight on Wednesday when noone was in the room.
The system reset changed the remote voice to speak in Spanish, but the whole system is still set up for English as the primary language. (Don't get me started on the automated voice not actually being able to say Spanish words)
You voice remote maybe wifi when controlling your roku but its IR when controlling the tv. The offending remote doesn't have to be one of the roku remotes, any IR remote that's stuck will collect the roku commands and gets stuck in feedback loop. Check ALL remotes in the room, take out ALL the batteries.
