Remote app from the playstore

My dog ate my roku remote so I downloaded the roku remote app from the app store.  However,  I can't get my TV off the homepage without a remote... what do I do?

Is your TV connected to your network (Wi-Fi or wired)?  You can only use the app as a remote once the Roku device is connected to your network.
