This might sound silly, but first, try using your TV remote to change the "input" or "source" to the HDMI port where your Roku player is plugged into. If you're able to see your Roku screen but you're still not able to navigate using your Roku remote, try changing the batteries or pressing the small button under the back of the battery door to re-pair the remote (not all remotes have this feature).
